jarjarjr

Cork’s vibrant music scene has welcomed a rising star and hip hop artist jarjarjr (aka Robert O’Halloran). In 2024, jarjarjr unveiled a well received debut album, a masterful blend of introspection, rhythm, raw talent and buoyant attitude. Drawing from a diverse range of influences and experiences, jarjarjr’s ‘Catch The Dusk’ captivates audiences with its palpable depth and passion.

The album ‘Catch The Dusk’ is the culmination of a decades’ worth of dedication and growth which aims to inspire listeners both figuratively and sonically. The album wows visually too, with David Willis, Brownsauce and Ben Kavanagh directed music videos.

After a change in his life, jarjarjr found solace behind the wheel of a Toyota Yaris, heuristically muttering affirmations that would eventually become the opening lines of his first song: “North Face Duffel Bag”. Unbeknownst to him, it marked the beginning of a four-year journey. With 13 tracks, jarjarjr hopes the album will offer solace to those facing challenges.

jarjarjr explains, “I hope this album gives a bit of hope to some lonely lady or lost fella out there. To showsomeone

who’s faced with the task of starting over that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.” Since then jarjarjr has begun writing again. The lyrics this time are a touch more playful and with less to prove; the approach is more laidback. Crafting songs while experimenting with a more electronic sound.

With four massively successful Guinness Cork Jazz shows under his belt, jarjarjr has played headline shows accompanied by the likes of Bricknasty, Kassa Overall, Chris Wong and Uly. After a handful of boutique festivals and a sprinkling of intimate solo shows in 2025, jarjarjr’s live ensemble has become a frenetic and sophisticated jazz rap tour de force.
