Sustainability

We have installed Zero Carbon district heating system for heating and hot water.

  • All our power is generated by renewable energy
  • To date we have planted over 10,000 Native broad leaf trees
  • We have preserved our wetlands as they sync more carbon than woodlands
    • Our new EcoCabins tread lightly on the earth using ground screw foundations rather than concrete. They are constructed in Ireland using locally sourced and renewable materials wherever possible.CMS
    • Our purchasing policy extends to the fit out where we have carefully selected Irish made Respa 4-Star Hotel mattresses ensuring you as comfortable night’s sleep. The Geodomes incorporate furniture from the Sofa Company who support the tradition of furniture making in Vietnam they incorporate recycled fabrics and are a carbon neutral company.
    • For 2023 we are teaming up with our friends Hometree to give our guests and customers the chance to offset their carbon and do something positive for biodiveristy and the environment by making a donation to our fund.

House Rules

Because we always put biodiversity and our environment first, as well as for your safety, all cars are left in the nearby car park after drop-off.

Because we want Goleen to be a restful and relaxing place for all our guests, Wi-Fi is only available in our reception area.

We have a beautiful swimming spot, which guests are welcome to use, just off the rocks at Castle Strand. Please note, however that use of this swimming area is entirely at your own risk!

Pet Friendly

As an eco-tourism destination, we are also very pet friendly, so you are welcome to bring your pet. However, we do have some rules for the benefit of all our guests:

  • All pets must be always kept on leads and under the owners’ control while visiting Goleen Harbour.
  • Pets are allowed in our Fastnet and Sherkin EcoCabins and in our Bell Tents, not in our Fahane EcoCabins or Geodomes.
  • Please pick up and dispose of your pets’ litter safely (so we don’t have to!). There are bins provided at the Fastnet camping field site for your convenience. If you are not in close proximity to these bins, please make sure it goes into bushes as this is preferable to using plastic bags.
  • Owners are responsible for the behaviour of their pets at all times and management reserve the right to ask people to leave the site if their pets are disturbing other guests or are disruptive in any way.
  • No banned breeds are allowed on site without exception!!
  • Pets cannot be left unattended at any time either in cars, tents, camper vans, cabins, or domes; this is to ensure all pets’ safety while staying with us.
Pet owners who have booked any of our pet-friendly accommodations must bring their own pet beds and we request that all pets are kept off furniture.
  • We politely ask that you clean any muddy paws before entering the cabins or Bell tents!
  • Finally, we charge a modest flat cleaning fee for pets for our pet-friendly cabins and domes to ensure our accommodation is perfect for our net guests.

  • Stunning setting in a lovely relaxed environment. Roomy bell tent with amazingly comfy beds. Loved the peace and tranquility, felt as if I had stayed at a spa retreat.
