Our GeoDomes are a giant window to the ocean, offering spellbinding panoramic views all the way out to Cape Clear, Fastnet Lighthouse, and Alderman Rock at the entrance to Crookhaven. Each of our domes has a skylight which not only provides a perfect view of the starry night sky but also acts as a magnificent light trap during the day.

Facilities

Each GeoDome has a kitchen with an induction hob and fridge, as well as a compost toilet, shower and sink. Access to the communal fire pit, Elemental Spa, and the Barrel Top main building is only a short stroll away—so you have everything you need to enjoy a wonderful, relaxing stay.

Sustainability

We have installed a Zero Carbon district heating system for heating and hot water.
  • All our power is generated by renewable energy
  • To date we have planted over 10,000 Native broad leaf trees
  • We have preserved our wetlands, which capture and sink more carbon than woodlands
  • Our EcoCabins tread lightly on the earth using ground screw foundations rather than concrete. They are constructed in Ireland using locally sourced and renewable materials wherever possible.
  • Sustainability also guides our interior choices. We’ve selected Irish-made Respa 4-star hotel mattresses to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep while supporting local manufacturing.
  • Our Geodomes feature furniture from The Sofa Company, a carbon-neutral business that supports traditional furniture-making in Vietnam. Their pieces incorporate recycled fabrics, combining craftsmanship with environmental responsibility.

What to Expect

Please note that if you are staying in a GeoDome, your car needs to be left in the car park nearby. There is a short walk to and from the accommodation to keep in mind. We recommend that you bring suitable footwear for rain and muddy conditions.

We want Goleen Harbour to be a restful and relaxing place for all our guests, so Wi-Fi is only available in the Barrel Top main building.

We have a beautiful swimming spot—just off the rocks at Castle Strand. Please note, however, that use of this swimming area is entirely at your own risk!

To help us protect this beautiful place, we ask all guests to leave the area just as they found it. Please do not litter — including cigarette butts — and be cautious to dispose of your waste in the correct bins.

Pet Friendly?

Due to the location of our GeoDomes beside our horses as well as their furnishings, they are not pet friendly. However, our Fastnet & Sherkin EcoCabins, Bell Tents and campsite pitches are.

  • We had 5 fantastic nights in the Geodome. The location is stunning looking out to Fastnet. The Geodome has excellent facilities and an amazing shower. It is a perfect spot for hiking, beach trips and a short walk into Goleen Village. Matt and staff were helpful and had great advice about local beaches, activities etc. The ethos of Goleen Harbour respects and protects its unique environment.
